About

Hey there, I'm Shane, aka "K-townKing", I have lived in Ketchikan for over 30 years and have been in love with this place since I rolled off the Alaska Marine Highway. I started my family and become a part of the community. I have work at many different jobs since arriving, most have dealt with serving the public, but have been driving taxi for the last 18 years.
My first real job was as a Driver/Guide for a large tour company. This is what really sold me on making Ketchikan my home. Believe it or not, it was quite a learning experience. Learning the history of this town was very intriguing, I wanted to learn as much about Ketchikan as I could. I started hanging around with the ol' timers, listening to their tales and stories. Learning about what it was like before statehood. I started to enjoy living in this small community. More importantly, I wanted everyone who visits Ketchikan, no matter how long a visit, to enjoy all that Ketchikan has to offer them. Be it the Native culture, the different salmon species, or the beautiful Tongass National Forest that surrounds us.
I started this blog as a way for folks planning a visit to Ketchikan to have some idea of just what is available for them to do and places for them to visit. Sitting in my cab as people come off the ships the #1 question I hear is "What is there to do in Ketchikan?" and my usual response is "How much time do you have?". Because there is sooo... much, you really need more time then the ships allow.
So I hope you can find something to interest you and if not, leave a comment about what it is your interested in and I'll research it and make a post about it for you.
If your planning to visit Ketchikan in the near future be sure to visit YourKtownTour.com and check my different tours that I offer. Hope to see you on your visit to Ketchikan, Alaska and if not, may you enjoy the visit just the same.

Peace to All
Shane
