Spring time in K-town

You can tell that Spring is here just by the increase in the city's activity. The street sweeper is out going up and down the roads. There's a lot of crap that is left behind after all that beautiful snow that we had this winter. I wonder if they recycle the sand and use it again! The harbor maintenance guys are busy putting out new flower boxes and painting the lines on the docks that have been worn away over the long winter that we had this year. Setting up the barricades, that help control the flow of tourist traffic and keeps everybody else out of the way. Now if the state would repair the potholes in the highway things would flow a little smoother along it. It's a real pain in the a** to dodge them for my 12 hours in the cab.
In the last few days the number of birds around my yard has increased. Not only are the Stellar Jays stealing my dog Luke's food, but so are the Robins and other Thrushes. Poor guy spends half his day chasing them away. I put feed out for the birds, they eat it up so fast and come after his. I'm still waiting to hear the honking of the geese as they fly over my house. That's when you know for sure that Spring has arrived. Speaking of arriving, the hummingbirds should be here soon. K-town is having a Hummingbird Art Showing at the Visitors Bureau for the next few days. There are pieces from all over SE Alaska. I saw same nice pieces when I happen to be in there last Thursday.
The tour companies have their buses out on the road training their drivers for this summer and I've noticed a few of the people who have been somewhere else for the winter are arriving for their jobs. K-town is coming out of hibernation and I enjoy watching it happen. We're all anticipating the arrival of the season and look forward to a GREAT SUMMER!!! Till next time: K-townking
