Trawling for Salmon
Now, trawling for salmon is to me, the least stressful on the fish, then all other forms of commercial fishing. The fish are caught on a single baited hook. The trawler uses several baited hooks on a long line and drag it behind the boat. The fish are not marked and just look much better then one caught in a net. Because of this fact, they usually get a better price for the salmon. The trawlers spent many, many hours out fishing, just like the sports fishing guy. They are out in the some areas, competing with charter boats, and the guy next door. Now their season is a short one, that's one of the reason for the good price, they catch less fish. When they catch 100 lbs., they've had a good day but, not all the days are like that. Most of the time they are lucky just to have one for themselves for dinner. So, when your at your local fish market, ask for a nice trawl caught wild salmon and enjoy. Remember: Friends don't let Friends eat farmed fish!!! Later: K-townking
