Derby Weekend Is Here

The 62nd Ketchikan King Salmon Derby gets underway at 7:00 AM on Saturday, May 23. All the participants must be checked in and have their Derby tickets before they put a hook in the water. Then the real fun starts. They are allowed to fish till dark and can be back at it at 7:oo the next morning. The Derby runs all of Memorial Day weekend and will continue on each of the next 2 weekends ending on June 7th.
Last years winner caught his winning fish the first weekend and held on to win through the final weeks. 9 years old Gage Heath outlasted about 120 anglers with a 42.7lb King salmon. It goes to show you don't have to have a lot of experience to be a winner. So, get your tickets and license and take your kids out for a great time and lots of fun. Who knows, they just might be the lucky one this Derby.
You can check out all the rules and a list of the great prizes at KetchikanKingSalmonDerby.com/. I want to wish all participants in this years Derby the best of luck. Remember to be safe out on the water. Hope to see you out there.
Have an enjoyable Memorial Day weekend and please remember the reason for the holiday. K-townking
