I told you the Derby has been won on more then 1 occasion, on the last day. Why should this year be any different? On Sunday, June 7, 2009, before 8 AM, the Leader in the Derby changed for the last time, when Dan McQueen weighted in his 44.2 lb. King salmon and beat out Mark Toldfelt, by .2 lb. Not only did Dan knock Mark out of 1st place for the largest fish, but he also knocked him out of the lead for the "Largest fish caught in a 16' or smaller boat". So another Ketchikan King Salmon Derby comes to an end. You can see all the results at Ketchikan King Salmon Derby website.
Congratulations to all those who participated and didn't win. I hope you all enjoyed your time on the water, better luck next year.
